Fall Bike Rides in Aspen

As the temperature begins to drop, the crowds begin to fade, and the aspen groves change from a brilliant green to saturated golds and oranges, local cyclists know that there is no better time to hit the trails in Aspen. With everything from technical singletrack to scenic paved rides, there are multiple options every two-wheeled enthusiast can enjoy here in the Roaring Fork Valley. There is so much to enjoy in fact, that the Roaring Fork Valley was recently named a Gold Level Ride Center by the International Mountain Bike Association! So grab a light jacket and head out on some of our favorite picturesque trails this season!

This scenic loop tops our list for fall bike rides with its combination of new singletrack, historic mining roads and stunning views of downtown Aspen and surrounding mountain peaks.

Offering spectacular views of Aspen, Snowmass Village and the lower Roaring Fork Valley this popular flowy trail network is a must-ride while in Aspen Snowmass.

One of the more challenging trails in the Aspen Snowmass area, Government Trail takes riders across both Buttermilk and Snowmass ski areas through golden aspen groves and fir forests.

This 10-mile road bike ride rewards cyclists with views of Pyramid Peak, the iconic Maroon Bells, and Maroon Lake. Surrounded by aspen groves and often capped with snow, the Maroon Bells are picture perfect in the fall.

At the end of this 11-mile road ride through swaths of aspen trees, cyclists can explore the remains of the historic Ashcroft ghost town or enjoy a gourmet meal at the local favorite Pine Creek Cookhouse.
