This year, Aspen is again blessed with 2 stages of the now legendary USA Pro Cycling Challenge
. This 7 stage professional road cycling blast came to life in 2011, in
an effort to bring the rich heritage of Colorado road cycling back to life as it was in the 1980’s when the Coors Classic brought the world’s best riders to these steep, glorious mountains.
Beginning this Friday, June 14, the town of Aspen will be brimming and brewing with excitement as the 31st edition of the FOOD & WINE Classic
begins its 3-day celebration of fine food and wine. This annual celebration brings the biggest and best names in the culinary world together with vintners and food editorial experts for the quintessential food and wine festival, June 14-16, 2013.
Spring in Aspen means snowmelt is in full swing, lending a lovely green awakening to our beautiful mountain landscape. Though the melting and run off is great for the flora and fauna, it can make for some muddy trail conditions during the months of May and June. With careful planning, there are plenty of options to get out and enjoy hiking and biking during this time while avoiding still-sticky trails. Sun-exposed trails and dry roads will allow you to enjoy the burn of a good climb on foot or a bike.
Sunny Side Trail
Most everything in the town of Aspen is slow and mellow in the off-season. The two months between closing weekend of the mountain and the kick off of summer’s festivals is a joy for locals and vacationers alike; it’s a treasured time to enjoy uncrowded restaurants and a leisurely vibe about town. Despite the mellow scene about town, the music is alive and kicking this off-season, with multiple shows from top talents coming to town.
The world’s premier winter action sports competition, ESPN X Games, is back in Aspen this weekend, January 24-27.
